Birthday Party

It's my favorite day of the year again, today is my 24th (still not sure how I feel about this) birthday. Every year on my birthday I am reminded how truly blessed I am to have my friends and family in my life. Isn't it just lovely when your birthday happens to fall on a friday? I'm looking forward to a fun filled weekend full of birthday festivities and Christmas prep!

Thought I'd share a fun website I saw on Pinterest yesterday that shows all the stuff you can get for free on your b-day! Pass this info on to anyone you know whose birthday is coming up.

Hope everyone has a fabulous weekend!

The Stockings were Hung by the Chimney with Care

I, much like Nordstrom, believe in celebrating each holiday so I held off posting any holiday gift guides until after Thanksgiving. But now that turkey day has officially passed I have a few ideas to share

Let's start with stocking stuffers. To me, Kate Spade and J. Crew has the most gorgeous collections around the holidays so I based this gift guide around their collections

Stocking Stuffers
1. J.Crew recently released these amazing Printed Backup Batteries for iPhones. I don't know about you but my phone is constantly losing charge, and at the most inconvenient times so I'm dying for one of these!
2. Kate Spade made these adorable/clever bobby pins. Bobby pins are an essential in my life, I always have a few floating in my wallet but this is such a nice, organized way to keep them together.
3. As you know I have become a proponent of lipstick and I think this would be such a fun gift to receive. Just try and do your homework since makeup is usually very person, try and find the appropriate shade for the recipient.
4. Magic wallets are perfect for tiny clutches. They hold everything you need for a night out on the town.
5. During the chilly mornings I am often craving a nice warm cup of coffee or hot chocolate. I wouldn't hate toting these treats to work with me in this adorable thermos
6. I'm kind of obsessed with these USB Flash Drives. This bow one is amazing.
7. I love anything bow related and am constantly in search of good key chains. I certainly wouldn't hate finding this little gem in my stocking.
8. This wallet might be more of an actual gift, rather than a stocking stuffer, but never-the-less it's a wonderful gift.
9. Headphones are another essential in my purse and these babies are certainly more fun than my plain old white ones.

Baby It's Cold Outside

It is beginning to look a lot like Christmas around here, and the temperature is contributing. It has gotten cold around here! So lately I have been obsessed with finding the perfect winter weather accessories. In my opinion, they need to serve several purposes, they obviously need to be super cute, be practical, and they also need to keep me warm.

Kate Spade has, without a doubt, the best winter accessories. They are so fun and colorful.

I just bought these last week in New York and am in love with them. I think the pop of red is so unexpected and turns a usually drab piece of clothing into something more exciting.

These gloves are beyond adorable. I love the colors.

Even though I have decided to forgo my chilly evening runs for the warmth of the gym and treadmill, I have been looking for earmuffs that have headphones. These are so practical and obviously so cute.

A few weeks ago I purchased these gloves. Now I'm probably a little late to this party but I love that they have the echo touch so I can use them with my iPhone.

While in NYC I obviously hit my favorite place in the world, Henri Bendel's. I fell in love with this earwarmer (it has definitely been added to my Christmas Wishlist).

And because winter weather is not complete without the coziness of candles burning (and it doesn't hurt when they just radiate holiday smells). This candle is pure perfection. It smells just like a christmas tree (and believe me, I'm very picky when it comes to pine scented candles-most are just not right).

I'd love to hear if you have any suggestions on winter accessories that you're loving at the moment.

Sunday Social: Week 18

First and foremost, I must apologize with being MIA lately (pretty much the whole month). I have been swamped with work ect so I have certainly been slacking. But I have some really great posts lined up so please bear with me!

But it is once again Sunday Social time and I haven't participated in a few weeks so I thought it was about time I pick it up again.

1. Name 4 jobs you’ve had in your life- Being only 23 (24 on friday!) I haven't had a plethora of jobs in my life. I've worked retail, worked as a camp counselor, I was a receptionist one summer, and am a preschool teacher now.

2. Name 4 movies you would watch over and over- Oh I have so many. I am a huge movie buff. Sleepless in Seattle, Love Actually, The Sex and the City Movie, The Devil Wears Prada...just to name a few

3. Name 4 places you have lived- Only one (except for college), good old Baltimore.

4. Name 4 of your favorite foods- sushi, pizza, french fries, buffalo chicken anything

5. Name 4 things you always carry with you- headphones, hand sanitizer, Smith's lip balm, my phone

6. Name 4 places you have been on vacation- my family used to go to Rebohoth beach in Delaware every summer, the Bahamas, Jamaica, Florida.

Currently Coveting: Holiday Attire-Thanksgiving

I always put a lot of thought into my holiday outfits. It's important to be comfortable but still fashionable. Plus I love any excuse to dress up.

Yesterday Lea Michele posted a picture on Instagram of her filming a future episode of Glee and I instantly fell in love with her outfit (I pretty much always do).

So I tried to recreate the look as best as I could. I think this would be the absolute perfect outfit for Thanksgiving dinner.

Thanksgiving Outfit
The turtleneck and skirt are from J.Crew. These boots are a little pricey but Zara has a fabulous version that have definitely made it on my Christmas wishlist. The earrings are Chanel

What are you planning on wearing this Thursday?

Trendy Tuesday: Leather

It is impossible to miss the most recent trend this fall and winter, leather. Now I'm not ordinarily a biker chick kind of girl (heck I have restrained from buying black leather boots because I'm worried they're too tough for me) but I'm not hating this look. Now it has to be just right or you can end up looking like a dominatrix so here are a few ways to subtly incorporate this fad into your wardrobe. (It's important to note that none of these looks are obviously real leather but...you get the point).

Zara Faux Leather Leggings- I think they're really the only reason I'm liking this trend. Now, my legs would look more like sausages a few days past their prime in these pants, but for the right figure they would be super fierce.

Bb Dakota Faux Leather Jacket- One style I am actually bold enough to attempt to pull off is a faux leather jacket. I think they're incredibly chic and modern. I like to pair it with a really feminine look to kind of mix it up. I got one a few years ago from Nordstrom and love it in the winter. They're especially perfect when you don't want to risk taking an expensive jacket out or if you're planning on keeping it on all night. I love the ones with asymmetrical zippers.

Urban Outfitters Faux Leather Trim Skirt- If you're like me, you often see clothes on television that you want. The issue is, you either can't find it or it costs a million dollars. This skirt is incredibly close to one Rachel Berry wore on Glee (I'm kind of become obsessed with this characters clothes- and Lea Michele's for that matter- over the past two years...but more on that later).

What are your thoughts on leather lately?

Wish List

Carrie Bradshaw once said "I want a ridiculously extravagant pair of shoes, I find away to buy them". I feel that way quite often. There are few things I find myself more motivated by than the complete love at first sight of beautiful things. I have a system to distinguish between the temporary lust for certain things and those pieces I simply must add to my closet, if I go home and still think about it hours or days later- I must really want it. But there are a few big ticket items I just can't justify buying for myself (especially as I save up for my move) and those babies get added to the big wish list (aka currently coveting on steroids).

Last year I came to the realization that I would much rather have one or two big gifts for my birthday and Christmas, than several smaller gifts, so I took that to heart when formulating this years wish list. I know Christmas is still a ways off (even though it will be here before we know it) but my birthday is quickly approaching so I had to decide what I'm asking for.

I would kill for this David Yurman bracelet. It's just so pretty!

I wear my Barbour with everything, as you can probably tell since I talk about it so frequently. But I wouldn't mind adding another, more light weight, jacket into the mix. I would die for a Burberry quilted jacket. I think the tan is my favorite.

I've been on kind of a Louis Vuitton kick after purchasing my first one in August. I'm really lusting after a bag I can take out at night, since my tote's too big.

I really like the Pouchette. I think it will go with tons and it's super cute.

I think this gift is a little out of the realm of possibility, but I would kill for the Speedy 30. I don't really need it but my mom and I have been discussing it for awhile and she thinks it's more practical than the Pouchette. I agree but would feel pretty guilty asking for that for Christmas. (But I wouldn't hate it if it showed up under the tree!)

I'd love to know, what's on your wish list this year?

Scrub a Dub Dub

I always love to hear about peoples beauty routines. For a long time, I was content to find my skin and hair care products at the drug store. I had no real complaints, and my pocketbook was much happier but I realized over the summer it was time for me to begin to take better care of my skin and hair. I've opted to spend a little more in the hopes that my complexion and locks will thank me later, and boy am I happy I did.

Bath Time

Hair Care
As you may remember, I began using Moroccan Oil over the summer and have become addicted. I can absolutely tell a difference in my hair. It's a wonderful product to restore moisture to your hair (if you're like me and blow-dry and straighten it all the time).

When possible I like to use products all by the same manufacturer because I like to think they work in conjunction with one another (at least they were designed to). I've been searching for the perfect shampoo for months and ultimately decided to give the Moroccan Oil Moisture Repair Shampoo and Conditioner a shot. I love them! First off they smell incredible, and second they really make my hair softer. I feel like I could become addicted to all of the Moroccan Oil products if I let myself.

Skin Care
My first, and only really big, splurge was my Clarisonic Mia. For my skin, the simple Mia is perfect (but I've heard great things about the Mia 2 and the Plus). I am still so happy with my purchase. It has done wonders for my skin and leaves it feeling so clean and smooth.

For the first few months I was content with using my same old Clean and Clear Morning Burst Cleanser but wasn't seeing all the results I was hoping for so I thought it might be time to invest in a good cleanser. I ultimately went to Nordstrom and was led to the La Mer Foaming Cleanser. I. am. in. love. It's amazing. Not only does it smell wonderful (think fresh and clean), it works so well on my skin. I literally saw results after two days (not to sound like a Proactive commercial or anything).

Finally, I was in the market for a good moisturizer. I had used a sample of Bobbi Brown and thought it worked well on my skin. But, after purchasing it and using it for a few days at home I realized it was just too thick for my skin. I didn't want to reverse all the good I was doing with the Mia. So I eventually just returned to my tried and true Neutrogena.

Body Wash
I love the Philosophy body products and the Cinnamon Cookie body wash is just perfect for this time of year!

Since I'm trying to expand my knowledge in the area, I'd love to know what products you use and swear by!

Trendy Tuesday: Chartreuse

The color chartreuse has been popping up everywhere this season, and for the spring. It's not necessarily my favorite color but I think executed correctly it can be extremely effective. It's a fun color for (what else) accessories. It adds a nice, unexpected, punch of color to the standard black, brown, and grey of fall and winter. I do have to say it's a very difficult color to pull off, since it's just a few shades short of puke green, so it's very important to be vigilant when choosing your chartreuse pieces.

You know of my love for Oscar de la Renta and this gown is absolutely flawless.

If I were going to attempt to incorporate this trend into my wardrobe these are a few ways I would.

This scarf is simple but still fun.
Rainboots get put to good use during the colder months so these Hunter boots would be such a fun way to showcase your chartreuse. What a fun way to brighten a dreary day.
Kate Spade's jewelry is flawless and these earrings are just too cute.

I have to say this isn't a trend I'm going to be running out to try (especially with my coloring) but I think it could be very effective on the right person! Thoughts?

What's In Your Purse?

One of my favorite posts to read is what people carry in their purses, I guess I'm just super nosey. I promised a very long time ago I would do a thorough post on what I "tote" around with me.

What's In Your Purse?

I have a small make up bag that has all of my small essentials. Kind of like an "in case of emergency" bag. This contains spare makeup (since you never know when you'll need a touch up), mints, aspirin, headphones, travel sized deodorant, hair ties, nail file, and a travel brush.

Purse Necessities

Enlighten me, what do you carry in your bag??

Sunday Social: Week 17

Sunday Social Time!

What's currently on your wish list?

I'm doing a big post on this later this week but I'll give you a little sneak peek:
I'm recently obsessed with Lululemon. I love workout clothes and usually stick in the Nike or Under Armor family because I know they work for me but I cannot ignore the amazing styles of Lululemon's clothes.

I'm dying for these two shirts and am contemplating pulling the trigger today and purchasing them. Thoughts?

How amazing is this back??

I'm obsessed with this pink

Share a new iPhone app you have recently discovered that we all need.

I wish I were more up on the tech trends but I really don't have any earth shattering apps to share. I've been pretty into the one recently released by my gym that has all of their classes for each location so if you live in Baltimore Brick Bodies has a new app.

What is a new Fall TV show you have added to your DVR?

I'm obsessed with Nashville. I started watching the pilot last week on Hulu and watched all the episodes in one night. If you haven't seen it yet I highly recommend it, so addicting!

Share your Social Media links for us to follow and tell us which one is your favorite?

I like each site for different reasons.

Pinterest is amazing for it's organized fashion. You can find whatever you need, whenever you need. I also love that it's easy to find the source of something to read more about it.

I adore the photography on tumblr and the collage layout. I think this is probably my favorite.

My shopping addiction just loved currently obsessed.

What is a TV series, Movie, or Song you could listen to over and over and over again and never get tired of...feel free to share one of each.

I could honestly watch One Tree Hill from start to finish over and over again. I never tire of it. Same goes for Sex and the City and Friends.
"Don't worry, they have a very lovely life"- CB

I have a whole list of movies I watch relentlessly. Two of my all time favorites are Sleepless in Seattle and Love Actually. Never get sick of them.

My favorite song is constantly changing. I'd say I could pretty much always listen to Taylor Swift.
