Four Months Down

Is it just me or did April fly by? Things are starting to wind down with the little ones at school and the deadlines to get everything finished are quickly approaching. I just keep reminding myself there's only one more month until summer vaca!

Looking back on my resolutions, I'm realizing I have forgotten about a few and have been neglecting a few others.

I have yet to take my cooking class. When I get home from work most night, I'm so exhausted I don't want to do much of anything so I've been resistant to sign up but I'm hoping the summer will be the perfect time to look into this.

The Color Run is in two weeks and I'm so excited. Apparently it's not much of a serious run, it's more for fun, so I'm thinking about looking into another one later in the summer. My friends and I are trying to plan our outfits now, I honestly can't wait!

I've been researching coffee table books that I might like. Right now I'm contemplating this one and this one. Any suggestions?

Finally I've been reading up a storm this month. On a whim I downloaded a kindle suggestion book, Slightly Single, to read. It was really cute and witty and I was pleasantly surprised to find it was part of a series (there are five book in total). They're really cute and easy reads. I've flown through, and have really enjoyed, them.

Slightly Single is about a girl in her early 20's who is thrown for a loop when her boyfriend of three years leaves her for the summer to do an acting camp (of sorts). It's about how she attempts to find independence again, and in the process loses 50 lbs. She also meets and develops feelings for a new man.

Slightly Settled picks up about three months after Slightly Single leaves off. Without giving too much away (for those who have yet to read the first book) this just follows Tracy's life in the city and delves more into her even more complicated dating life. I found myself conflicted between who was the right man for her in this book, and frankly I'm still not entirely sure who I'm rooting for.

Slightly Engaged picks up a year and a half after Slightly Settled. Tracy is now living with her man and waiting for the engagement ring everyone else in her life seems to be receiving from their partners. Her impatience grows stronger when her "future mother-in-law" lets it slip that her boyfriend has taken a diamond from the family safe deposit box.

My one word of caution is that the books aren't extremely current (I believe the first was written in the late 90's) so there are funny little references in there that are no long relevant (think pay phones and answering machines). But I'm loving them and really enjoy when an entire series is already out, so you don't have to wait between books, to find out what happens next.

  1. I want to do a color run! I have a ton of sisters that did one a couple of weeks ago, and I'm for sure doing one next spring! They seem like so much fun!

  2. I'm so jealous that you are doing the color run! I wen to register and it was already full. I was so upset!

  3. Are you a teacher!?! I teach kindergarten!
