Trendy Tuesday: Tassel Necklaces

Ever since the season premiere of The Zoe Report, I've been obsessed with tassel necklaces. I think they add just the right amount of flare to any outfit. Well, it looks like Rachel isn't the only designer starting to showcase the trend. They're still relatively simple, as opposed to a large statement necklace, but still add enough of a punch. I also like that the majority are shown at a long length, adding an elegant touch. Here are a few of my favorites.

Rachel show cases two versions of this necklace, the single tassel

The Loren Hope necklace is a close second favorite of mine.

This Carolee LUX necklace is great.

And is it possible to ever go wrong with Saint Laurent

Have you been noticing this trend?

Storage Wars

So you know that I am maybe, sort of, slightly OCD when it comes to everything in my life. But one aspect of my life in which I am almost certifiable is organization. I'm not kidding, I could write a book and I would give anything to become a personal organizer.

With one of my New Years Resolutions being to expand my jewelry collection, I have had to update my jewelry storage. Last summer I installed a shelf above my dresser to house a few odds and ends and to hang my necklaces on. But with my collection expanding, I had to figure out new ways to house everything.

I bought this great Acrylic Bracelet Stand from the Container Store.

Here's a look at my hooks.

Even though this isn't jewelry related, I bought this great glass container from Home Goods to house my nail polishes.

Here is the finished product.

How do you organize your jewelry?

If I have one weakness when it comes to patterns, it's stripes. I'm not kidding, when I enter a store it's as if there is a magnet that automatically pulls me toward any kind of clothing with stripes on it.

Please get a load of what my closet looks like.
(and that's just the dresses...)

I recently bought these three dresses to add to the collection.

I think I need some kind of help.
Does anyone else have an addiction to stripes?

Coo Coo for Lu Lu

I've spoke of my love for Lululemon more times than I can count. It's honestly an addiction. I check that website religiously and constantly have at least two items on my wishist. It's kind of my favorite outfit to wear. Their clothes are incredibly comfortable, flattering, and perfect for working out. Since I love to run during the summer I've decided to allow myself to go on a bit of a shopping spree. These are the items I'm currently lusting after.

I have the Free to Be tank from another season and love it. Wouldn't mind adding another one to my closet.

This striped Cool Racerback tank is amazing.

This is my favorite. This Swiftly Tech Racerback tank is perfect for running.

I bought the Fly Away Tamer Headband in this pattern a few weeks ago and am obsessed with it and this is the only top they are showing online in it. I'd really love a racerback top in it but I'd definitely settle for this No Limits Tank. They might have other options in stores.

Lulu's crops are without a doubt the best I've ever found. I own several pairs and cannot get enough. The Run Inspire Crop's are my favorite.

I much prefer to run in crops (yes, even in the sweltering summer heat) but needed to invest in a cute pair of basic shorts  for the kickball team I'm joining in July (I think my rainbow of Nike shorts might be a little too much). These Breeze by Shorts will be perfect!

What are your favorite Lulu pieces at the moment.

Bling Ring Raid

Okay so it's safe to say I'm way too excited for Sofia Coppola's new movie, The Bling Ring, to come out this summer. I'm fascinated by the whole story and have to admit after boning up on it I've been tempted to start my own (hello they barely got probation and got to raid some of the best closets in the world!). Okay I'm clearly kidding, because I wouldn't last one day in jail but let's just say hypothetically, if you could, whose closet would you raid?

I'd have to go with Olivia Palermo. I have a serious obsession with her style. It's flawless. She takes risks but rarely steps over the line. She always looks put together (almost annoyingly perfect). Not to mention, she has amazing hair. Here are a few of my favorite looks:
This Marchesa coat is absolutely stunning.

So chic

I can't even express how much I love this look

I love this floral look for spring/summer

I love that she pair leopard flats with a patterned dress

The perfect summer look

This Zara handbag is on my to-buy list. (Her hot man doesn't hurt this ensemble either)

She even looks put together in workout clothes!

To be honest, it was even hard to narrow it down to just these picks! (I do have to admit, though, it would be a toss up between Olivia and Kate Middleton).

Whose closet would you raid?

Currently Coveting: Summer Wishlist

I have been guilty of one too many shopping sprees over the past few weeks. And my appetite is only growing. It doesn't help that summer clothes are my favorite to buy and I think it's the best time of year to showcase your accessories. Here are a few things I have either recently added, or plan on adding, to my closet soon.
Summer Wishlist

1. Rebecca Minkoff Jayden Satchel: I really wanted to find a fun summer bag and this one was perfect. I ordered it last week and she should be arriving in the next few days
2. Loren Hope Samba Necklace: I'm drooling over all of the Loren Hope pieces right now. This necklace would be the perfect addition to a plain black dress
3. Harding Lane Hat: This is so cute I can't even stand it
4. Loren Hope Petra Cuff: This bracelet is to die for
5. Jack Rogers: I'm in love with everything cork lately and these are no exception. I'm dying for this pair
6. Loren Hope Clara Earrings: I'm trying to work on adding more statement earrings to my collection and these would be perfect
7. J.Crew Bathing Suit: I've been wanting a one piece for awhile now (perfect for nannying at the baby pool) and this one is beyond words. I ordered it a few weeks ago and love it!
8. Loren Hope Corrin Bracelet: Turquoise is one of my favorite summer colors to add to pretty much any outfit and this bracelet would be the perfect touch
9. Westward Learning Children of California Sunglasses: My style icon Olivia Palermo has be rocking these a lot lately and I think they're great. Plus the concept behind them is pretty fabulous, check them out!

What's on your summer wishlist?

Beach Bag Necessities

Now that summer is in full swing I have lots of trips to the beach and pool in my immediate future. Here are the main items I simply cannot live without.Beach Bag Necessities

1. Sunglasses: A good pair of sunglasses is without a doubt the most important summer accessory. These Karen Walker sunglasses are to-die for.
2. Good magazines
3. Sunscreen: I am not one to usually wear sunscreen, yes I know how terrible that is for me, but in Charleston I got the worst sunburn in the world and was peeling for weeks. So for the rest of the season I plan to lather it on
4. A hat: when your face just cannot take anymore more sun a hat is the answer. This Harding Lane one is too cute for words.
5. Kindle Paperwhite: I've professed my love for my kindle dozens of times, but am less than thrilled with it when I can't read my books in the sun! I'm planning on investing in the paperwhite so I won't have to buy my books twice
6. Towel
7. Evian Spray
8. Earbuds

What necessities can you not live without?

Question- The Dinner by Herman Koch

A few days ago I started reading The Dinner by Herman Koch. I had been wanting to read it for a few months when I first saw a review of it in a magazine comparing it to Gone Girl. And when it was showcased on People.com last week I thought it was time to give it a try. So here is where the dilemma begins, it's awful. I mean I don't think I've found it this difficult to get through a book since I was in high school. I loved Gillian Flynn's Gone Girl and since the premise is supposed to be similar I thought it would really interest me but it's been terrible.
I'm about a quarter of the way through, and I actually dread reading it but really hate not finishing a book so I've been trying to power through but I'm kind of reaching my limit. Almost every review on Goodreads is that it's great so my question is, to those of you who have read it, is it worth finishing? Will the tempo ever pick up and does the monotony of describing the food diminish? Right now the narrator to be extremely ADD making it hard to follow. Plus being a quarter of the way through, I have yet to see any indication of a plot, other than four people eating dinner.

I'm ready to completely give up but I just wanted to double check with anyone who has read it, if I should reconsider?

Summer Candles

I've mentioned my love for candles before. I think they make any room instantly cozy and warm. I feel like in the fall and winter, it's so simple to find the right scents since there are so many wonderful smells associated with those times of year. But the spring and summer are more tricky.

I have a very strong sense of smell and often get a headache if a candle is too potent, so I'm constantly on the lookout for the perfect candle that won't make me ill.

A few weeks ago I purchased this Coconut Banana Cream Illume Boulangerie Jar from Anthropologie.
When I smelled it in the store I loved it (think Banana Boat sunscreen) and was so pleased with my Pumpkin Spice flavor from the fall I thought this would be perfect. While I love the smell, I have to confess it isn't very strong. When I burn it, you can barely smell it.

I've had my eye on this Capri Blue Candle in Peeled Naval Orange
I love citrus smells and this one does not disappoint. This candle will probably be next on my list.

I rarely purchase candles online because I obviously like to smell them first, but I took a risk with this Aunt Sadie's Beach in a Can Vintage Surfs Up Candle
This is suntan lotion scented and smells amazing. I absolutely love it! I've been burning it nonstop since I received it.

There's another suntan lotion scented candle from Aunt Sadie's and I'm curious if they are the same smell (if you can't tell sunscreen is my favorite smell in the whole world).
If anyone knows the answer I'd very much appreciate it!!

I've also heard wonderful reviews on Henri Bendle's Beach scented candle.
Their candles never disappoint but I'm curious if anyone could give me any feedback on their opinions on it?

I'm always on the lookout for more suggestions so if anyone has any insight I'd love to hear it (possibly a lemon scented candle?). What candles do you swear by in the summer?

Charleston Recap

So it's been quite awhile since I last posted. Things have just be crazy lately with school ending and I feel like I haven't had a spare moment on the weekends to catch up with everything. But I'm lucky enough to have this week off so hopefully I'll be able to regroup and get a little ahead of the game.

Over Memorial Day weekend, I went to Charleston with one of my oldest and dearest friends (shout out to Elizabeth).

It was the greatest trip and Charleston was everything and more everyone told me it would be. It's safe to say, owning a beach house there is on my future agenda.

Friday night they picked me up at the airport and we went right out on the town. We went to, hands down, the coolest bar I've ever been to, The Rarebit.

It's designed like a retro diner. They serve breakfast food well into the evening and have the most amazing drinks I've ever had.

Check out these gorgeous copper cups. This Moscow Mule was pure heaven!

We also visited The Cocktail Club

Checkout the outdoor space

We spent every day at the Sullivan's Island

The next night we went to Halls Stake House

Recognize this place?

It's the movie theater from The Notebook

And on Memorial Day we walked around King Street and shopped
Check out this adorable man dazzling us with his musical talent

How long until I get to go back?

Have you all heard of Everpurse

This is without a doubt the coolest thing I have ever seen. My phone constantly dies and even though I have the J.Crew Backup Battery it only charges your phone to a certain percentage, so this is right up my alley.

I mean, how cute are these clutches?? The perfect thing to slip in your purse, or even use solo! I'm loving the croc patterned one.

Have you heard of Everpurse? Do you know anyone who has used them?

Five Months Down...a few days late

I apologize to being absent last week. After my trip last week I had a ton of things on my mind, and lots to do before the end of the school year. Friday was my last day with my little munchkins, and while I found myself begging for the end of the year over the past few months, it really was sad I worked at the school where I am now employed over the summer all while I was in college and worked in the infant room one year. Several of the children who were in the infant room that one summer, were in my class this year. So it's been so amazing to get to see those babies grow up! There is no other word to describe it but bittersweet.

My trip to Charleston was beyond words. I'm honestly counting down the days until I can visit again. Stay tuned for a more in depth synopsis of my weekend.

But I did want to post my monthly update. I feel like a lot happened this month,

I ran the 5K on my list (I know you're tired of hearing about it by now).

I expanded my jewelry collection with a few trinkets
This David Yurman bracelet and cute summer necklace

But I've also been reading up a storm. With the year winding down we had a lot of spare time during nap time so I got to check three books off my reading list.
I finished Slightly Engaged. It was cute and I enjoyed it.

I read Slightly Married. This was probably my second favorite of the whole series (behind the first book). This had the most action and plot developments, even though I was disappointed in who she ultimately chose.
There is a fifth installment to the series, but after reading the description I thought I'd pass. It didn't seem terribly interesting and the reviews weren't amazing so I figured it wasn't worth it.

Last saturday I started Firefly Lane. I had heard many good things about it and needed something to read while at the beach. I honestly couldn't put it down. I would have finished it even sooner had it not been for my busy week. It is so heartfelt and the writing is wonderful. I absolutely recommend this one!
It's about two best friends and their relationship over thirty plus years. Beware, it's a tearjerker!
There is a sequel, which I am just now beginning.
