I have a confession to make, "I've been cheating on fashion with furniture" (C.B.). Since making the final decision, last week, to make my move to the big apple, I have been shopping nonstop for my new apartment.

The beginning of last week, were some of the most stressful three days I've ever had (I honestly thought I might be losing my mind). After receiving a job offer, I scrambled to try and find a place to live (I couldn't accept the offer without a place to stay, and couldn't move up without a job- so both needed to happen simultaneously). Well it was a bit of a roller coaster, but eventually the stars aligned and I found the most fabulous place to live (with one of the most fabulous people- shout out to Rachel). My roommate from college was gracious enough to offer her apartment to me, it just so happened that her current roommate was looking to move out, and in with her boyfriend, so I jumped at the opportunity. Over the past six months a lot of things have happened to make my belief in fate stronger than ever, I am now 100% positive that everything happens for a reason! And now the best part- I get to decorate!

Here are some of the trinkets I've purchased:

Society Social Pillow- This is kind of an inside joke with a few of my friends from college and as soon as I saw it I knew I had to have it. (Plus I'm kind of obsessed with Society Social).

Serena & Lily Bedding- I love Serena & Lily and have been mixing and matching the sheets and duvet covers for months and finally landed on this Navy Gingham Sheet Set and Grass Border Frame Duvet combo.
Gray Malin Central Park Photograph- This made me feel like a real grown up, my first piece of real artwork. I've admired Malin's photography forever and thought this Central Park print was exceptionally appropriate.

As much as I'm loving buying the necessities (and a few fun extras) I want to remind myself to take my time and enjoy the process. You only get to decorate your first apartment once!

Big News About The Big Apple

Throughout my life I've had a plethora of dreams, I've wanted to have a career in pretty much every profession out there (doctor, wedding planner, actress, even a librarian) but as I grew up I started to grow out of these lofty ideas. However, there has been one dream that has remained a constant, living in New York. I still remember the first time I visited the city when I was seven, it instantly felt like home and I knew that was where I belonged.

It's been a winding road but it has finally led me to making my dream become a reality, I'm moving to Manhattan at the end of August! I've never been more simultaneously excited and petrified in my entire life. I always assumed that when the opportunity would present itself for me to move, I would jump at the chance and not think twice, but I really struggled with my decision. Going away to college was the scariest thing I had ever done in my life, I'm an only child and am extremely close with my parents, plus I don't do well with change, so leaving my comfort zone was terrifying. But it turned out to be the best four years of my life. I'm so blessed that I live in a close proximity to my best friends from college, even the girls who don't like directly in Baltimore are close enough that we see each other all the time. And now I'm leaving all of that behind. I questioned whether or not I was ready to move on and I ultimately came to the conclusion that I couldn't afford not to go.

So while, if I'm being completely honest, I've never been more scared of anything in my life, I'm also so excited to embark on the next phase of my life!! So here goes nothing...

So for those readers who have recently moved to a new city, or live in New York, do you have any advice for this new girl?

(Also, my apologizes for my delinquency with responding to all of your kind comments- I've been swamped with all of this but will get back to all of you-promise!)

It's a Boy!

It's a bouncing baby boy for the royal couple!!

I would be lying if I said I wasn't a tiny bit disappointed, I was hoping for a girl (and hoping even more that Victoria was in that name somewhere). But I'm still thrilled! Thoughts on a name? I'm at a loss since I was predicting a girl.

Here are a few necessities for the little man:

A Proper Pram

Orbit Infant Stroller (This baby even comes with a paparazzi shield- that may come in handy!)

An Actual Silver Spoon

Magic Slippers

For His Public Appearances

For Playing Around the Castle

Prince William already surprised the new bundle of joy, and his proud mama, with this little trinket from Harrods. Pretty cute huh?

I can't tell who's more excited, me or the royal couple?

Royal Baby!

The Royal Baby is officially on its way!!

I've been anxiously awaiting his or her arrival for the past few weeks, religiously checking throughout the day for updates. So place your final bets ladies and gentleman- boy or girl? Name?

My money's on girl to be named Charlotte (with Diana as a middle name). Thoughts?? (Or am I the only one who cares haha?)

The Perfect Tips

Confession: I have a bit of a nail polish addiction.

I'm constantly scouting what other girls are sporting. I think the summer is the best time to try and experiment with different colors. Here are a few of my absolute favorites, that I swear by:

A woman I work with introduced me to this in the spring (it was one of their seasonal spring colors) and I have continued to get it on my toes all summer, when I get my biweekly pedicure. It's a very pale lilac that can sometimes appear light pink

My mom got this a few weeks back and I fell in love with it, I immediately had to order it online. It's the perfect shade of bright pink.

I first read about this in Kate Spade's coffee table book, calling it the perfect red. I knew I had to try it. I've been obsessed ever since. It's bright enough for the summer, with just a hint of orange (yet still works during the holiday season). I have to tell you, I've never gotten so many compliments on any nail color.

I saw the above pic on Tumblr and was determined to find this shade. After scouring Essie's website, I finally found it. I love it! I feel kind of bold wearing blue nail polish, but somehow I think it's pretty chic (plus, in my opinion, you can get away with more adventurous colors during the summer)

This is my go to color when I don't know what else to get. Similar to Go Ginza, it can appear pink or purple depending on the light, but is a much deeper shade. It's the ultimate summer shade!

What are your favorite nail polish colors?

Fashion Faux Pas Friday

Okay so I need to do a little ranting. Last weekend, at the beach, I saw an alarming trend that I, somehow, didn't get the memo on. Since when did crop-tops and maxi skirts become the in vogue combination? (The even bigger question being- why are crop-tops even back at all?). Every time I see someone wearing one I'm instantly transported back to the days of mini backpacks and bicycle shorts (I mean is tattoo necklaces on the rise too?).

To whoever it may concern, this doesn't look good on anyone. Yes, I said anyone. You look like your Baby-G alarm never went off and you over slept for the past 15 years.

Further more, it looks sloppy. I'm not much of a trendy girl in general, I much prefer the classics (plus it just makes more sense to me, to invest in clothing that will be relevant for years to come. As opposed to dropping hundreds on fashion you couldn't be caught dead in a year from now).

The sad thing is that either of these trends, if executed properly, can be amazing. I adore maxi skirts, when styled correctly.

If you must partake in the crop-top resurrection, take a nod from 60's fashion.

Channel your inner Ann Margaret

Yes, yes, to each his own, but this trend it ridiculous. Thoughts on crop-tops/ maxi skirts?

Trendy Tuesday: One Piece Bathing Suits

For the past few summers I've been telling myself I'm going to purchase a one piece, they're just so many cute options out there! Since I'm spending a great deal of time at the baby pool this summer, with the little ones, my standard bikinis aren't the most practical options. So I finally took the plunge and bought two new suits. I haven't worn a one piece in forever but once I put one back on I realized why they're making such a comeback these days- they're so comfortable! Chasing the crazy girls around the pool is much easier now!

Here are the two options I added to my wardrobe lately.

What are your thoughts on one pieces? Would you rock one?

Six Months Down!

Can you believe we're halfway through 2013?!

This month jewelry wise I tried to focus on bracelets and earrings (since I feel like I've spent a good deal of time scoping out necklaces).
I did manage to pick these babies up though, I first bought the tortoise one then fell in love with the turquoise.

I also purchased this J.Crew cork bangle.

I haven't been reading as much as I would like, but I did manage to finish Emily Giffin's Baby Proof. It's safe to say Giffin is hands down my favorite author and I have read everything else she has written but was never really that interested in this story. I've picked it up several times but always found something else that struck my fancy a little more. The premise never really seemed like something I could identify with. Well it was very pleasantly surprised! (I don't know why though since Emily's books are always so good). But this story was about Claudia, a semi newlywed, who has a shared view on children with her husband- they don't want them. Until one day Claudia's husband realizes that he does actually want to be a parent. I really couldn't put it down! If you've been hesitant just like me about this one, I suggest giving it a chance.

Looking for book suggestions for the month of July, have you read anything good lately??
